I’ve been asked several times this fall for my elderberry syrup recipe; Ask and you shall receive!!
Our girls were sick recently, just your basic cold, but the way it hit each of them was quite different. Our youngest daughter, Isabelle, has Cornelia DeLange Syndrome, part of the way that that affects her is that her immune system isn’t quite as strong as it should be. Because of that, we go to extra measures to try to keep her healthy, because if something’s going around, she’s gonna catch it. Belle still takes her meds and supplements via feeding tube, so it’s easy for me to consistently get them into her. She takes elderberry syrup and uses a Thieves essential oil roller daily as part of our routine. The other kids, while I remind them to do the same, they’re typical teens, and it doesn’t often happen.
So last week when I noticed Belle feeling “off” I started giving her elderberry syrup every few hours, giving her a few ounces of bone broth every few hours and increased the Thieves to a couple times a day. Her cold never got bad, she laid low for a few days and was back on her feet in no time. Madison got hit with the cold at the same time, but it hit her much harder for much longer. She ended up being really sick for about 8 days. No doubt in my mind that consistently using elderberry syrup played a huge part in helping Belle recover so quickly.
Stay well friends!!
